We open on a pregnant woman sitting in her bedroom.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time you tells her she’s strong’.

The woman whispers to her unborn baby, ‘such a strong girl’.

We see a young girl old on the monkey bars. Her grandfather stands behind her, making sure she doesn’t fall.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time she believes it’.

Her grandfather cheers

We see a young boy at a wake after a funeral. His dad walks over and crouches down.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time you say it’s okay to cry’.

His dad says ‘Just let those tears out, okay?’

We see the same boy boy and his younger brother sitting on the steps outside their house. There is a ‘sold sign outside the house next door, and a girl waves from the back of a car as it drives away. They all look sad.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time he tells his brother’.

The boy says ‘it’s okay to cry’.

We see a teen girl and her older sister on the lounge at home watching tv.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time you say, disrespect is never your fault’.

We see the same teen girl in the car with her mum. Two younger boys are sitting in the backseat whispering, ‘it was because of her dress’.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time she knows it’.

The girl says ‘Oi! Her dress had nothing to do with it. Seriously! Grow up’.

The boys look ashamed. The girls mum looks proud, and begins to address the boys.

We see a basketball coach addressing his team as they sit by the court. We focus on a teen boy, sitting next to the coach.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time you teach him to stand up for others’.

The basketball coach says ‘Like I said, it’s all about respect’.

We see the same boy on a bus. Two teen boys in front of him are making fun of a girl.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time he steps in’.

The boy intervenes, and says ‘Oi, leave her alone’.

We’re at a party, and we see the teen girl and teen boy from earlier scenes looking across the room at each other. They smile at each other.

Voiceover says, ‘the first time they meet. Every little talk you have shapes them’.

We see the boy walk up to the girl and say ‘Mind if I sit down?’

Voiceover says, ‘bring up respect’. The same words appear on screen.
